I have what?!?!?

Here We start:

Me: Hi. I'm Chelsea and I'm a Celiac.

Everyone: Hello Chelsea

So the first step to being healthy as a celiac is admiting you are a celiac. It is now part of your identity, it is going to follow you everywhere you go, it's not going away....unfortunately. I'll start with my testimony.

I was born on March 1, 2009 seven minutes following my twin sister. I have been sparkly and dramatic ever since. However, most of my life I have struggled with depression, anemia, anxiety, stomach issues etc. There are so many problems that I could mention that made no sense to me, my doctors or my parents. My Mom discovered her celiac disease in late 2006, followed by my sister Danielle early the next year. But not I! I refused to believe that I had this torturous disease. In June of this year, I went (back) to my doctor and
was told that her diagnosis was fibromyalgia AND diabetes. But she was going to do the celiac test along with the other final tests. The test came back. I was a celiac.

I cried.

I screamed.

I cried.

I weeped.

I got up, wiped my tears momentarily, and went and ate some celery. But then I began to read, I changed my ENTIRE diet, and I'm PROUD to say, I have not cheated one time since then. And truthfully, I'm not even tempted to cheat. Because, after the initial pain of coming off gluten (which hurt REALLY bad) As if magic, I was cured. Pain that I didn't even know I had experianced was gone, I could wake up in the morning and not be tired, I could stay up at night, excuse me, but I started to use the bathroom and sweat normally!

So now, because I have learned so much and I'm living as a celiac teen, I thought I would share my story and a part of my brain. So here you go....

The Adventure Continues.

  1. O my goodness Chels! I didn't know that! My mom just recently found out she has a major gluten intolerance. It was causing all kinds a problems! They thought at one point she hand a blood cancer! Thank the Lord it turned out to only be gluten causing the stacked blood cells, pain, exhaustion and the list goes on. Doctors say she is coming back negative on gluten intolerance but said that doesn't mean she doesn't have it. Since going off of gluten she is like a new women! But when she has just a little gluten all symptoms come back. It's amazing how the body responds to something as small and as common as gluten. :o It seems to me people have problems with man made things. When God says things are good to eat He means it. If it is God made and people have issues with it it's seems to be how that grow it and the pesticides they put on them that effect others. I am so glad you are feeling better too! Mom wants to know did you have any skin problems? Like psoriasis, eczema ect... ? :) Thank you for sharing! People need to know that "possibly" something that feels SO horrible can be fixed SO easily! :) I will tell you another time about me! BTW I added a link to this blog on the link list on my blog! www.alyssascott.blogspot.com Hey also check out Food Inc. if you haven't already. It doesn't directly address Celiac but it explains why we have the issues we have. Basically how the government is playing God with our food!
    GMO's! :/ It's AMAZING! http://www.foodincmovie.com/
